Here There
I'm Alex, and I built Here There to streamline the file transfer process with an emphasis on simplicity.
The Origin Story
The idea for Here There emerged from a personal need. I found myself at a UPS store needing to print a shipping label without having it pre-printed. To avoid logging into my email on a public computer, I turned to a file transfer service. The problem was the link was too long, which made it impractical to type out. That's when I realized there had to be a better way.
So, I created Here There, a service that generates short, seven-character links for file transfers — just four letters and three numbers. It’s easy to communicate and doesn’t require you to text or manually type long URLs.
Under the Hood
The service operates on top of file.io, inheriting a 2GB file size limit (among other restrictions). Files are automatically deleted after the first download or after three hours, whichever comes first. It’s simple, direct, and respects your privacy.
